Perhaps the best-selling high-end grandfather clocks we sell are part of a collection of two Howard Miller Fashion Trend Design Grandfather Clocks named the Howard Miller Urban II Grandfather Clock model 610-866 (610866) and the Howard Miller Urban III Grandfather Clock model 660-125 (660125). The Howard Miller Urban Floor II is in an Espresso finish, perhaps resembling walnut or mahogany or dark cherry wood, and with nickel accents at the top middle and bottom of the grandfather clock case. The Howard Miller Urban II Floor Clock also has nickel accessories, meaning weights and pendulum, as well as nickel incorporated into the grandfather clock’s dial or face.
The Howard Miller Urban III Grandfather Clock is in a satin black finish (vs. Espresso), and is also very elegant with the same nickel weights and pendulum, as well as nickel placed stragicaly throughout the design of the grandfather clock case.
One of the grandfather clocks that people often consider along with these models, and is also very popular, is the Howard Miller Neilson Grandfather Clock model 611-102 (611-102), which is designed similarly with the nickel accents, but a more traditional bonnet or rounded style grandfather clock top, vs. the rectangular tops of the Howard Miller Urban II and Urban III grandfather clocks. All three of these models are in high demand. One reason is that nickel accessories are sought after by many customers.
Each of these clocks are just under 79 inches in height, so they are both good for many spaces, and in this size range, can be considered grandmother clocks as well as grandfather clocks. The core difference between clocks being classified as grandmother clocks or grandfather clocks is the height, with clocks in the 80-85 inch range, depending upon which horologist one talks to, is the range to definitively distinguish between the two. For the record, we consider any clock 85 inches or under in height as eligible to be considered by buyers and collectors as a grandmother clock. So the Howard Miller Urban Grandfather Clocks series makes that classification very easy.
We have a special category of Contemporary Grandfather Clocks that would be desirable to look at if any of the Howard Miller Urban or Neilson Grandfather Clcoks look of particuarly interest to you.
