To bring a touch of couture to Paris’s 26th Biennale des Antiquaires, from September 14 to 23 at the Grand Palais, organizers have called on fashion designer and decorative-arts ace Karl Lagerfeld to conjure the acclaimed antiques fair’s scenography. This year’s staging was already on track to be the grandest yet: The reopening of the sumptuous, newly renovated Salon d’Honneur, closed since 1940, will allow for a record-breaking 150 exhibitors—including important jewelers such as Bulgari, Chanel, and Chaumet, all of whom will devise pieces exclusively for the event. “I wanted to emphasize the immensity and the splendor of the glass roof, which will be like a protective sky,” says the ever-prolific Lagerfeld, who adds of the storied setting, “It is a place I adore.” sna-france.com
