After three years of marriage, David Finch had become increasingly withdrawn, dismissive and preoccupied. Tearful, his wife told him: “I feel like I’ve lost you.”
Turns out, Mr. Finch’s wife had not lost him. Rather, she had discovered Mr. Finch’s actual disposition. What once seemed to be Mr. Finch’s eccentricities revealed themselves to be Asperger’s syndrome.
This week on the Modern Love podcast, Daniel Radcliffe reads Mr. Finch’s moving and often funny essay, “Somewhere Inside, a Path to Empathy.” Mr. Radcliffe, who is best known for his role as Harry Potter, will appear in an interactive special of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”
Mr. Finch is a marketing engineer for a semiconductor manufacturer. Stay tuned after the reading to hear more from him, Mr. Radcliffe and the Modern Love editor Daniel Jones.
