Carmen Busquets was an early believer in fashion e-commerce. A founding investor in Net-a-Porter, the Venezuelan entrepreneur, 52, has amassed a fortune from start-ups like Farfetch and Moda Operandi as well as smaller brands like the fashion company Figue and its travel-inspired goods. She also has friends and family in the field, like her sister Maria, who owns the children’s clothing company Cashmirino. As a result, she knows a thing or two about luxury gifts, favoring items with an ethical or craftsmanship bent. Here are her suggestions for the holiday season.

1. Dr Jackson’s Baobab
& Rose Oil

I find the Baobab & Rose Oil from Dr Jackson’s range of progressive cosmetics so relaxing for this hectic time of year. A perfect combination of scientific research and natural ingredients, the oil makes a decadent addition to bath time, providing a luxurious aroma as well as much-needed moisture for tired winter skin. www.drjackson.co.uk

2. Figue Tuk Tuk bag

This Tuk Tuk bag beautifully highlights the influences of travel on the founder, Stephanie von Watzdorf, providing instant color and joy to whomever you gift it to. Figue reminds me of the joy and fun that comes with travel, and this is always a good thing. figue.com

3. Elie Top jewelry

Standout jewelry can really make an outfit, and I love layering pieces. The stunning jewels from one of my favorite designers, Elie Top, are inspired by antique astronomical clocks and celestial measuring instruments. These pieces are so unique and as special as the person you choose to gift them to. They certainly give the “wow” factor when unwrapped. elietop.com

4. Qigong retreat

I highly recommend the Qigong retreat to Bhutan hosted by David Melladew, an Oriental medicine consultant. The weeklong trip provides recipients with an opportunity to completely detach from the stresses of modern life through Qigong, an ancient practice focused on the healing properties of meditation. I would greatly appreciate a gift like this, and I think many other people would love it. (The 2018 trip is scheduled for May 4 to 11.) www.facebook.com/globalqigong

5. Shaun Leane auction

For the person who has everything, I highly recommend looking at the auction of jeweler Shaun Leane’s personal archive at Sotheby’s in New York on Dec. 4. The auction will include catwalk pieces created for Leane’s close personal friend Lee Alexander McQueen, as well as pieces like his incredible diamond Contra Mundum glove. If I do manage to secure one of them, I may struggle to gift it. They are a true piece of fashion history, representing a moment that will never be repeated. www.sothebys.com

6. ‘A Study of Human and Animal Habitats’

I have a passion for the natural world and making sure we preserve it for future generations. A collaboration between photographer Jamie Hawkesworth and the World Land Trust, this book highlights the relationship between the elephants and people inhabiting the remote Wayanad Wildlife Reserve in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It documents the complex issues surrounding human-animal conflict, and makes for a touching and educational gift. All sales proceeds will support the trust’s conservation work. Anyone donating £60 ($79) or more to World Land Trust will receive a book. www.worldlandtrust.org/elephant-corridors

7. Cashmirino

Cashmirino believes that luxurious fabrics shouldn’t be restricted to adults and has created a stunning line of cashmere baby clothes that will be the ultimate comfort to your little one’s delicate skin. It sources fabrics from across the world and provides support to the local craftspeople it works with. Whenever I gift Cashmirino, I always get the biggest thank yous and the recipients then become customers themselves, which I always think is a good sign. www.cashmirino.com

8. Lotus Arts de Vivre

So many of my favorite gifts are things that I find myself talking about long after I have received them. For this reason, I love to give pieces from Lotus Arts de Vivre, the iconic brand known for its bold Asian and animal-themed creations made using opulent raw materials. For example, the teak wood tray with silver frog is an unusual piece that always gets house guests talking. You can get fantastic pieces which inject style and humor from crocodile table runners through to the best salad servers. www.lotusartsdevivre.com
