The Philippines have always loomed large on Dedon’s cultural radar. Twenty-one years ago company founder Bobby Dekeyser started the outdoor-furniture line after discovering woven-rattan pieces from the isle of Cebu, where Dedon’s manufacturing has been based ever since. The firm’s ties to the archipelago are further strengthened with the recent opening of Dedon Island, an intimate ten-acre resort on the southeast tip of nearby Siargao. Created in collaboration with designers Jean-Marie Massaud and Daniel Pouzet, the nine-villa property epitomizes the brand’s devotion to eco-friendly barefoot living, utilizing only local materials and incorporating, naturally, many of its signature products.
