The 22-year-old rapper and actor Joey Badass (born Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott) recently released the single “Land of the Free” and is set to drop a full album, “All AmeriKKKan Badass,” on Friday. Away from the stage and recording studio, he is a regular on the USA Network show “Mr. Robot.” But whether in Hollywood or the music world, he said, his wardrobe is consistently relaxed. Here are his favorite items from his closet.
Shirt Right now, my favorite is one that I designed for Pro Era. It’s in a comfort color wash — you know, those colors that fade in the wash? — and has a Pro Era patch. I like the faded red one. I’ve been designing clothes for the past couple of years. I started doing things at Ecko when I was 17 or 18 and then I started my own line with Pro Era.
Pants Acronym; they make really dope pants. They make them with workers’ pants type of material and I have them in a cargo style. I got them at Kith in black and I also have them in olive green. They’re very high quality, in a Japanese cut. I don’t even really know what it means, but I always feel super-Japanese when I wear those pants because of the fit. They’re the only pants that are comfortable when I wear them on my real waist.
Coat I’m a jacket collector. I have puffers and flights, which are bomber jackets. There’s a dark green puffer with a yellow and red hood from Marni. I have no idea where I got it. I also have some cool bubbles by Fjallraven. I don’t really care about brands. I just like what I like.
Shoes I go between my Danner boots and my yearly supply of Yeezy V2s — I got the one with the tan stripe. The Danner boots are like combat boots. I like the comfort and the look. They’re a good winter boot, but I’d wear them with pants in the summer, too.
Accessories I rotate between my two Rolex watches and my chains and my custom jewelry and my custom teeth by Toronto Grillz. For my custom jewelry, I go to my man in New York on 47th Street in the diamond district, Mr. Flawless. I met him through industry friends. We made this custom crown for my older brother who passed away. It was one of his symbols.
