Day of rest? Nah. New York Fashion Week continues; so does sweaty weather. Dress accordingly. Here’s what you’ll see today.
• The Beckham family before brunch. The morning starts with Victoria Beckham, whose show is as good a place as you’ll find to rubberneck at the ever-photogenic Beckham clan, who tend to come en masse to support their mum. David Beckham gets much of the gawking, but catching up fast is burgeoning style icon Harper, the couple’s daughter. (Never mind that she’s five.)
• A sophomore outing. Sander Lak’s debut collection for Sies Marjan was last season’s NYFW breakout hit. Can he repeat the trick?
• Sex in the afternoon? A notable sponsor appeared on the invitation to Hood by Air’s 1 p.m. show: the website PornHub. Forewarned, forearmed.
• Altuzarra, on a different day than usual. Joseph Altuzarra, whose slinky designs are both beloved of and inspired by his friend and inspiration, the editor Carine Roitfeld, moves his show from Saturday to Sunday for one season only.
• A beauty-pageant-cum-fashion-show-cum-political-awareness-raising. Opening Ceremony, no stranger to out-of-the-box stagings for its fashion shows (see: a play on the stage of the Met; a troupe of falling dancers) present a “Pageant of the People,” starring Whoopi Goldberg, Rosario Dawson, Natasha Lyonne, Rowan Blanchard and Rashida Jones.
• Social media updates from your wrist. Michael Kors is the latest to dive into smartwatches, and introduces his Michael Kors Access watch with a party at his SoHo store tonight.
And in case you missed it:
• Over in Los Angeles, a visit with one fashion designer sitting out New York Fashion Week. Perhaps you’ve heard of her. Gwyneth Paltrow?
• Jason Wu showed “the strongest statement he has in seasons,” said our critic.
• Next season, they’ll be taking over Oscar de la Renta. Before then, there’s Monse.
• And from the Department of Easy for Her to Say: Supermodel Liu Wen, how do you stay looking fresh in the humidity? “Makeup! Just kidding. I don’t do makeup too much.”
