A newly reinvented venue is poised to lure art aficionados as they descend upon Basel for the Swiss city’s annual fair. Transformed by the globally renowned local architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, the Volkshaus Basel (a historic 1925 building) now comprises a bar, brasserie, and beer garden. The space, stripped to its original bones, is outfitted with innovative furnishings, among them LED pendant lamps and bistro chairs with one-of-a-kind backs, the shapes of which were computer generated. volkshaus-basel.ch
