Barry Lubetkin was researching Homer and Langley Collyer, brothers known in the 1930s and ’40s as the Hermits of Harlem, when he spotted a familiar artifact.
Tiffany was ordered to pay the equivalent of $449.5 million in damages to the Swiss watchmaker, an amount that exceeds Tiffany's earnings for last year.
Ruling in the contractual disagreement, the Netherlands Arbitration Institute also required Tiffany to pay more than $9 million in legal fees for Swatch.
